| Next masterclass History and activities: The private conducting institute Freiburger Dirigentenakademie, founded in 2002 by Jörg Bierhance, emerged from "Wiener Meisterkurse für junge Dirigenten", led by Maestro Salvador Mas Conde, and offers opportunities to conducting students to deepen their knowledge and their experience. Specially items worked on are Functional Beating Technique as taught by Sergiu Celibidache The first project took place in November 2002 with conducting students from Germany, U.S.A., Scotland, Spain, Italy and Greece. In March 2003 a partnership with the Vidin State Philharmonic Orchestra, Bulgaria, was founded. From 2008 on, the activities of Freiburger Dirigentenakademie will be expanded to cooperations with other organisations. Beside conducting seminars in Tarragona, Spain, Freiburger Dirigentenakademie is merging its activities with the recently founded "Academy Musical Spring", located in Kaposvár, Hungary. The first International Masterclass will be held from March 26 to April 4, 2008 under the artistic leadership of Gábor Kerenyi and Jörg Bierhance and will offer masterclasses for conductors and singers. Conductors will work and perform symphonic repertoire with the Kaposvár Symphony Orchestra for 6 days. Singers will work on their repertoire in Lied, Opera and Oratorium after there choice and also prepare themselves for appearance on stage. A second part of the masterclass is dedicated to the cooperation and interaction between with the participating singers and conductors. Scenes and ensembles of the Mozart Operas "Don Giovanni" and "Cosí fan tutte" will be worked on together and put on stage for the final performance of the academy.
